Grassroots Partnerships: Connecting Yards with Farms

Every blade of grass we collect from your property is carefully dried and processed into nutritious feed for nearby ranches. Florida Cracker cattle and other livestock enjoy a healthy, natural diet, while farmers save on costs and gain a reliable, local supply.

Homeowners benefit too: by opting into our circular program, you reduce yard waste, lower your environmental footprint and support the farmers who keep our community fed. It’s a partnership that starts at home and ends on the farm.

Turning Grass Clippings into Feed for Cows

Once your lawn is cut, we collect the clippings and bring them to our processing facility. The fresh grass is carefully dried and chopped, then either fermented into nutrient-rich silage or blended with natural additives to create a balanced feed that cattle love.

This process not only produces a high-quality forage; it also creates a nutrient loop—the nutrients in the clippings are concentrated, and when the cows digest the feed, the manure they produce enriches the soil. That means every bag of feed helps close the loop between lawns and farms—keeping nitrogen and organic matter cycling back to the land rather than ending up in a landfill.

We also incorporate additional organic materials, such as brewer’s grains and shredded alfalfa, to enhance the nutritional value of the feed. These supplements help balance the protein and energy content, ensuring your cattle get a complete diet. After the cows have enjoyed their meals, any leftover feed and manure are composted and returned to our partner farms and as nutrient-rich compost, closing the nutrient loop and improving soil health.

Join us in closing the loop. Schedule your eco-friendly lawn care today and become part of Tallahassee’s growing community of GreenCycle champions.

Pelletizing Our Feed with a Pellet Mill

Once our forage is dried and ground, we feed it into a pellet mill. Inside the mill, rollers press the mash through a perforated die; the pressure and gentle heat activate the natural plant lignins to bind the material together, forming dense pellets without any artificial binders. These pellets are cut to size as they exit the die and then cooled to harden and remove excess moisture.

Pelletizing makes our feed easier to handle, store and transport. Pellets have a longer shelf life than loose clippings, produce less dust, and help reduce waste at the feed bunk. After cooling, we bag the pellets for delivery to local farms—giving cattle a convenient, nutrient‑dense ration made from your lawn clippings.
